May 25, 2017, the International Congress on the Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens Shchit — International Union for the Protection of Students’ Rights, organized and conducted a conference on «The main ways and directions for the integration of foreign students in Ukraine.»
The conference was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Odessa region, the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region, the Regional Employment Center, public and political figures, students from different countries, representatives of educational institutions of various levels of accreditation, and media.
The welcoming speech was opened by the President of the International Shield Organization, Professor Dager Saleh Muhamed.
The diplomatic corps was represented by the Consul of the Consulate General of Romania in Odessa, Mrs. Denis Gabor. In her speech, she noted the importance of this direction of the organization’s activities, since foreign students are an important component in the Ukrainian student body, without which there will not be a clear and harmonious picture of students.
Chairman of the Public Council of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Maksimovich Vladimir Yaroslavovich, stressed that such conferences are necessary for the adaptation of foreign students in Ukraine.
Vice President of the International Shield, Matyakin Aleskandr Georgievich prepared a report, which covered issues that currently concern foreign students: the problems of entry and exit to the territory of Ukraine, the legislative base of the migration policy of Ukraine and much more.
The representative of the Tunisian diaspora in Odessa — Tarek Aloui, touched upon the issue of continuing education in postgraduate studies and the resulting difficulties, as well as the possibility of foreign students to stay in Ukraine and the necessary steps for this.
The methodologist of the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council, Tartan Nadezhda Nikolaevna, described her vision of the situation on the part of the state educational bodies.
His readiness to work in this field was noted by Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa Region — Lieutenant Colonel Khadzhiev Yusup Lukmanovich, Chief Psychologist of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Odessa Region — Elena N. Gelever, representative of the Odessa Regional Employment Center — Tatyana Zhir and others.
During the conference, the most urgent questions were asked by students, to which an immediate response was received.
At the end of the event the President of the International Organization Shield presented gratitude to the head of the Friendship Group organization Ali Sliman Saeb Abdulrahman and the leader of Leader Education Ashu Ravat for the full support of foreign students in Ukraine.
