On February 8, 2016, at the Bristol Hotel (Odessa), an international conference was held on “Let’s stop environmental crimes on Earth.”
The organization “International Congress for the Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens “Shield,” together with the International Personnel Academy and the Odesa regional organization “National Union of Journalists of Ukraine,” became the initiators of the event.
During the conference, important issues of modern society were discussed: “How to prevent an ecological catastrophe on our planet,” “The need for an immediate increase in human environmental culture,” “Getting rid of huge military spending,” “A ban on the development, testing and use of climatic, nuclear, biological and other types of weapons,” “Saving a clean planet for our children.”
Representatives of various countries took parts, such as Ukraine, Qatar, Syria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Palestine, and Moldova…
Representatives of state bodies, religious institutions, dioceses, and professors who directly solve environmental issues in different cities of Ukraine have joined in solving ecological problems.
The International Conference was opened by the President of the organization “International Congress for the Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens” Shield, “Dager Saleh Muhamed.
In his speech, Plenipotentiary Representative of the International Personnel Academy Osipov Valery Borisovich highlighted the creation of a permanent commission of the UN, the Eurasian Union, the African Union, and the Council of Europe to investigate environmental crimes against humanity as an essential aspect.
The position of the Orthodox Church on the issue of ecology was expressed by the representative of the Odessa diocese, Father Pavel, with the blessing of the Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail.
Dr. Khudhair Abbas Farhan Alsaadani and Dr. Musa Issa Alhaj Ali Ramadan, Guests from Qatar, stressed the devastating effects of wars, destroying forests to leave weapons, and the destruction of ships that carried oil, the demolition of structures that processed water and electricity. Because of this, the water is polluted, and people who drink it become infected with various infections; they noted that this problem should not be left as it is. This will lead to significant losses. It is necessary to maintain a clean environment and reduce mortality and morbidity from various viruses, which are currently very numerous.
Director of the Institute of Energy and Ecology of the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration – Zacerklyany Melenty Melentyevich, spoke on “Waste? No, resources!
Anatoly Danilovich Krisilov, Chairman of the Ecological Scientific Society, highlighted the methodological aspect of some topical social and environmental problems.
The representative of the State Institution “Ukrainian Research Institute of Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine,” Mozaleva Svetlana Anatolyevna raised the issue that worries the majority of residents of the Odesa region regarding the establishment of the legal status of the Kuyalnitsky estuary and the Kuyalnik resort; she raised in her speech.
The representative of the Green Party of Moldova, Anatoly Prokhnitskiy, stressed the need to eliminate various types of weapons, which primarily hurt the environment.
The representative of the Odesa regional organization of the “National Union of Journalists of Ukraine,” Yury Anatolyevich Rabotin, read out a poem about the environmental situation of our time.
As a result of the discussion, a Draft Appeal was drawn up to the leaders of states and the leadership of international organizations, the content of which was the need to increase the ecological culture of man, the call of humanity to unite in the fight against environmental crimes, the reduction of military spending, the prohibition of the development, testing and use of climatic, nuclear, biological, bacteriological, chemical and other types of weapons. At the end of the event, each participant signed this Draft Appeal.
